FINANCING
If you would like for us to finance your feeding costs, we will carry your feeding costs for you then take them out of your proceeds when your lot closes.  We are currently financing feed at 1.5% over NYSE prime interest rate.  Generally, financing your cattle requires good credit and $100-125 equity per head.  If you would like to finance your cattle, we will put you in contact with a list of regional banks that are well-versed in cattle financing needs.

BILLING
Regardless of whether we finance your feed, we will send you feed statements at the first of each month.  All costs will be itemized for you in a clear and consistent manner, from costs of feed and yardage all the way down to specific medicine costs.  Please feel free to ask us about prepaid grain options.

STRATEGIES/OPTIONS
We are capable of helping you with your options.  We’ll help you with any hedging opportunities, prepaid grain decisions, and possible marketing programs that may fit your needs … just call us.  Please feel free to ask us about anything regarding your cattle feeding venture.

FEED MILL/FEED TRUCKS/BUNK MANAGEMENT
We mix feed “cafeteria style,” utilizing Roto-Mix trucks.  Each feeding is fresh, and delivered consistently.  We test ourselves often to ensure we’re making feed of the highest quality.  Sam reads the bunks himself.  Both you and your cattle have the chance to prosper, between our top quality feed and Sam’s special attention!

RATIONS
We formulate rations using the most cost-efficient ingredients available to us.  Without making wholesale changes, we tweak our rations to fit seasonal feedstuff trends.  Quality steam-flaked corn is the basis of our finishing diet.  Please contact us for ration details.

CATTLE
We handle most kinds and weights of cattle, which arrive in various conditions.  We target 600 to 800 pound yearlings.  They come from Utah and Mexico, Indiana and Florida, and most states in between.  We receive cattle 24 hours/7 days, and will do our best job with what you send us.

OUR PROFIT
At Tri-State Cattle Feeders, feed costs you what it costs us.  We derive profits from our flat yardage charge of $0.35 per head, per day.  In this flat charge, you’re covering costs of our operations and services; what’s left is our primary profit.  We charge this flat yardage rather than a markup per Ton because we want to reward (and receive) healthy cattle that are ready to eat.  Simply put, if an animal averages eating 25# per day, for 160 days, it is equivalent to a $28 markup per Ton.  If an animal consumes less than that, it makes a higher equivalent markup per Ton; consuming more than 25# makes a lower equivalent markup per Ton.  Our flat yardage charge of $0.35 is both fair and very competitive.

MARKS OF QUALITY
Tri-State Cattle Feeders has successfully implemented the Critical Control Points and applicable Quality Control Points as required in the Texas Cattle Feeders Association Beef Safety and Quality Assurance ProgramSM.  In doing so, this gives Tri-State Cattle Feeders the right to utilize the NCBA Brand MarkSM and TCFA BSQASM names and symbols in the production and marketing of fed cattle.
