Tri-State Cattle Feeders is located at the heart of the nation's cattle feeding area -- Hereford, Texas. This small town on the Texas High Plains boasts the largest concentration of fed cattle in the world. The Sims and Kirk families have operated Tri-State Cattle Feeders since the 1970's. Bob Sims has over three decades of experience in feedyard operations, and has developed an expertise in marketing fed cattle at their full value. He not only knows the cattle market but knows how to market cattle. You'll profit from his expertise. Sam Kirk is a native West Texas who has devoted his entire professional career to cattle feeding. His expertise in all facets of feedyard operations comes from working his way through the ranks in cattle feedyards. Sam's ability to run a feedyard smoothly and efficiently will add to your bottom line. Steve Sims has been at the feedyard since 1983 and became a partner in 1994. His focus on customer service and hands on work in the yard will assure that all your customer needs are more than taken care of. Tri-State Cattle Feeders has a capacity of 15,000 head, which is large enough to take advantage of economies of scale, yet small enough to pay close attention to every detail of your specific cattle feeding ventures. We accomodate gooseneck loads or several pot loads, with pen sizes ranging from 25 head to 250 head. Ours is a low overhead place.  You won’t be paying for much flash.  We have some bent fences, and we use some baling wire here and there; that said, we use the most current technologies and methods available to finish your cattle and market them in the best ways possible.

We are 5 minutes southeast of Hereford, centrally located among the many major packing plants in our area - Cargill is just 30 minutes away.  We are privileged with readily available feedstuffs.  ADM is a stone’s throw from our back fence.  The top of Texas region ranks number one in the state in yearly agricultural output, and the industries servicing the ag industry have a very large presence here.  The water’s good, and we may have the best drainage in the business (cattle have water – the pens don’t). Overall, this is Cattle Feeding Country.  We’re situated halfway between the coasts, in a temperate climate that optimizes feeding performance.  Our average temperature range in January is 22o to 50o; July 66o to 92o.  Our central location above 3600’ blesses us with a constant breeze that keeps the air clean and the humidity low.  We receive a mere 19.5” of yearly precipitation, with over 270 sunny days each year.  In a three-county area called “the Triangle,” we feed over 2 million cattle each year.  This is the best cattle feeding area in the nation, and our operation competes solidly with the best feeders in the nation.
